Amends existing law to exempt federally recognized Indian tribes from the definition of “foreign government,” such that certain restrictions regarding real property will not apply to them, and to include forest land as one of the kinds of property that a foreign government may not purchase.

Amends existing law to provide that a local governmental unit shall not enact, maintain, or enforce an ordinance or a resolution that forces participation in an optional federal housing assistance program or regulates rent, fees, or deposits charged for leasing private residential property.

This bill amends Idaho Code Section 55-307 to prohibit local governments from mandating Idaho property owners to be forced to participate in an optional Federal Housing Assistance program or any program that would have the effect of regulating rent, fees or deposits. This bill updates language in Idaho Code Section 55-2006 to be consistent amended language.
