The amendment to Idaho Code § 19-870 will expand the Idaho State Appellate Public Defender's authority to represent indigent defendants in misdemeanor and juvenile appeals from the district court to the Idaho Court of Appeals and the Idaho Supreme Court, occurring on or after October 1, 2020.
